Received your project invitation email

Apply to this contract on Handshake first — this puts your profile in the matching pool. Once your account setup is complete, Handshake will send you a direct invitation email with a View Project link when you are selected. The invitation is what actually activates the contract, not the initial application. Check your spam folder too. Once you receive the invite, check this step to mark yourself as active.

Pass the photo editing assessment if one is sent

Some projects require a short assessment before you can access tasks. If you receive a testing email, treat it seriously — it will likely test your ability to evaluate image edits, identify retouching quality, or assess AI-generated content for professional accuracy. Passing is the only way to unlock paid work.

Complete your first photo editing task on MultiMango

Tasks happen on a platform called MultiMango, which you access through your Handshake dashboard. You must manually start and pause the Handshake timer box to track your compensable time. Inside MultiMango you will develop industry-specific prompts, evaluate AI-generated responses for professional accuracy, and provide structured feedback to help improve how AI understands photo editing workflows. Some tasks may involve speaking on recorded prompts, so make sure you are comfortable communicating in fluent English. MultiMango tasks run on an infinite loop — when you finish and submit a task, pause your timer immediately if you are stepping away. Each task has a strict maximum handling time and any hours logged beyond that cap will not be paid.

⚠️ Slack messages, office hours, and platform downtime are not paid. An unpaused timer keeps running even if you close the browser tab, which can lead to account suspension.

Confirm your first payment through Stripe

Payouts go out through Stripe on a weekly basis. You do not need a separate Stripe account — just link your bank details directly inside the Handshake dashboard using their secure setup portal. After your first week of completed tasks, Handshake sends your earnings straight to your bank. If nothing shows up within 7 days, double check that your Stripe bank details and your W-9 in Deel are both saved correctly.
